Manu
Peru
Simply the best wildlife destination in the Amazon |
|
| By far the richest, most
extraordinary biological transect in the Peruvian Amazon,
or the world, starts in Cusco and runs northeast by road and
river to the great Manu Wilderness.
Manu offers by far the greatest quantity and diversity of
animals and plants in the world. No other destination in Peru
or beyond can compare with Manu Nowhere else can you enjoy
a superbly intact transect of tropical habitats from Andean
grasslands and cloud forests down to foothill and lowland
forests

Manu boasts the highest bird, mammal, and plant
diversity of any park on Earth, including 1,000 of the world's 9,700
bird species, 200 species of mammals, and 15,000 species of flowering
plants. The most photogenic spectacles are frolicking Giant Otters,
1,000 parrots and macaws at a riverbank clay lick, dancing Cocks-of-the-Rock,
habituated monkeys, and huge Lowland Tapirs at a forest clay lick.
One of our lodges, , currently offers the world's finest viewing
of this elusive animal, which elsewhere is harder to see even than
the Jaguar, which also is a frequent sight in Manu.
In terms of wildlife for your
money, our Manu itineraries offer the greatest payoff of wildlife
per dollar of any rain forest site in Peru and Latin America. Other
New World rain forests may be somewhat less expensive than Manu,
but NONE of them offer Manu's tremendous wildlife diversity. For
travelers who want the finest rain forest experiences in the world,
Manu offers the ultimate “bio-trip” from the Andes to
the Amazon or programs to the .a wolrd Heritage Site.

SECURE AIR TRANSPORTATION BETWEEN CUSCO AND MANU, PERU
In April 2006 InkaNatura took over management of air transportation between Cusco and Boca Manu to ensure on-time, reliable air service with a turboprop aircraft (Cessna Grand Caravan). These were the first guaranteed departure, on-time flights in the history of tourism in Manu.
Since that date, InkaNatura has operated regular flights, both in the 2006 and 2007, 2008 and 2009 tourist seasons to Manu. Then to ensure quality of air service and of maintenance of the strip, InkaNatura negotiated with Diamante native community, finally reaching agreement on 31 March 2008. On the day Diamante and InkaNatura signed the agreement, InkaNatura began steady, intensive work to improve the landing strip to ensure the best possible performance of our scheduled flights from Cusco.
Now we are proud to announce that on July 31 2008, InkaNatura received the license to operate the Boca Manu landing strip from the Peruvian Government. Easy air connections Cusco/Boca Manu are guaranteed.
On 2009 season InkaNatura is using the highly maneuverable, versatile and well-equipped Twin otter. This is a high-winged and twin engine turboprop aircraft.
Some Manu tour operators recommend traveling through Puerto Maldonado, but they do not mention that clients will spend more than 11 hours sitting in uncomfortable fast boats/buses and, in addition, this route does not have clean and decent bathrooms.
