The trip starts in Cusco on the road to Puno, reaching Checacupe (Kilometer 93) where a deviation to Pitumarca is taken by a paved road for 11 minutes or 7 kilometers. From Pitumarca we initiate to walk through an affirmed road for about 58 minutes until we get to a divert where the journey begins.
From this starting point we begin hiking 8 kms. through a stunning scenery watching the Ausangate, alpacas areas, typical Andean houses, etc; until you reach a point where we spend the night in the Ausangate. In this area the presence of Andean birds and vicunas is observed.
The next day we leave very early to cross the strait of Yanacacca, looking for more vicunas on the road. The strait is 5000 meters above sea level. The walk takes about 5 hours until we reach the viewpoint of Cerro Colorado. Some species of animals that we can see in this area are the vicunas, vizcachas, Andean geese, partridge bird and Condors.
