SANDOVAL LAKE LODGE

Posted by Carmen Maria Guevara Protzel on Jul 15, 2019 7:14:16 PM

The idea of building Sandoval Lake Lodge  began at the beginning of 1995 when the Peru Verde a non profit association, owner of 40 hectares of forest on the shores of Lake Sandoval, invites the residents of the surrounding areas (5 families) to be part of an ecological business in order to stop them from hunting and cutting down the forest.

Sandoval Lake Lodge,
a shelter for 50 guests was built in 1996 with ecological wood (wood collected from the Manu River by residents of Boca Manu) .

After 23 years of operation, we are pleased to say that since then, there is zero hunting in the area. The fauna is very easy to see, the forest is intact and passengers feel it is an ideal place to see wildlife near a city.

Giant Otter M
In the shores of the lake there is a family of giant otters that has been with us for 23 years, possibly one of the families most used to the presence of tourists.

Sandoval Lake Lodge is near Puerto Maldonado however it is possible to see 7 species of monkey, 5 species of macaws, and many species of birds that are observed in the trails or when doing the walks by the lake.

Sandoval Lake Lodge has several km of grid trails and to facilitate the observation of wildlife, a platform 30 meters high that passengers can climb with climbing equipment, a catamaran and several boats for walks on the lake.
