Peruvian cuisine is arguably one of the best in the world, with its incredible ceviche and South American and Asian fusions that are a result of centuries of migration. The cuisine has exotic ingredients and unique flavors, so it’s easy to see why it’s so popular across the world.

Peru’s capital, Lima is known for its amazing food scene, from mouthwatering ceviche and seafood to spicy rice dishes. We’ve selected the 5 top restaurants in Lima, so you can head straight out to eat.

1. Restaurant Cordano

Restaurant Cordano has earned its name as ‘The President’s Cafe’, as it has served up food to almost every Peruvian president for the last century. Founded in the early 1900s, it’s a historic building that’s opposite the presidential palace, making it a convenient lunch stop for the country’s politicians. A visit to the restaurant is like stepping into a time machine, as the decor has been kept almost untouched for decades. Order some of the classic Peruvian dishes, such as lomo saltado, which is stir-fried beef strips, and quinoa soup.
